Quinn Calls for BP Debate Focused on Public Safety, Quality of Life Issues
QUINN CALLS FOR BOROUGH PRESIDENT DEBATE FOCUSED ON PUBLIC SAFETY, QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES
“This is the Number One Concern I Hear From Queens Residents and the Voters Deserve an in-Depth Look at How Their Next Borough President Will Keep Them Safe”
Queens, NY--February 25th...Career prosecutor and candidate for Queens Borough President Jim Quinn today called on all the candidates in the race to agree to a debate focused solely on public safety and quality of life issues.
Overall crime is up double-digits (17%) since January and new stats out today show a sharp rise in subway crime and that robberies have more than doubled compared to the same month last year. Quinn said it is the number one issue he hears about from voters across Queens.
Quinn proposed a one-hour debate or forum specifically focused on public safety and quality of life issues open to all of the candidates in the race. He offered any credentialed New York City news outlet, Queens not-for-profit or civic organization to host the event.
“No matter where I go, the number one issue Queens residents want to talk to me about is the increase in crime and deterioration of our quality of life,” said Jim Quinn. “The Borough President can play an important role in addressing these issues and voters deserve to hear more from the candidates about their positions and their plans. We are at a pivotal moment in our city and the people we elect will have the capacity to determine which direction we go in. To all of my fellow candidates in the race--name your time and place and let’s give the voters the attention to these issues that’s deserved.”
